This article speaks a lot of truth, and uncovers an important aspect of life in the camp. As we, the Dunkirk / Dunkerque Refugee Women's Centre, address those issues faced by women on a regular basis, and have been trying to denounce those patterns to the French authorities for several months, we have fallen on many deaf ears. Whilst the insecurities in La Liniere are due to the presence and domination of smugglers that work within a large and well-established trafficking network, the authorities have been failing residents of the camp by ignoring those pressing concerns. The incredible women, men, and children, who live in the camp and with whom we work every day, deserve better protection and a more secure environment in this so-called 'humanitarian camp'.
