NEWS FROM THE JUNGLE

New Women's Centre Vehicle! One step closer to being a fully mobile.

June 29, 2017

Exciting news from Women's Centre! With your fantastic support and help from Donate 4 Refugees, the Women’s Centre has been able to purchase a van that will become our new Mobile Women’s Centre.

Thank you all for your support so far. It has been a quiet time waiting for news but some has finally come! The aim now is to get the van functional and operational, and for this we still need your help!

The van cannot come soon enough. Change is greatly needed, and fast. The Women’s Centre mobile space will provide some immediate and direct help to ease the women’s discomfort. It will allow us to continue building our relationships with them and their children and enable us to provide better practical assistance.

The van will give crucial space for women to congregate privately, provide sanitary conditions to change their babies diapers and allow them space to tend to their own hygiene needs, especially when menstruating. We will continue to supply women with basic hygiene products, whilst also focusing on giving them a space to rest and receive some emotional support.

The van, which will also be used to function as a worker’s support vehicle, will have hot water facilities as well as a microwave for heating baby bottles, two separate compartments to sit in and rest as well as an outside area with seating and protective cover.

The van, which is currently being cleaned and converted for purpose, will arrive on site on the 15th July. Again, we are hugely grateful to all of you who have supported us so far in this venture. Our aim is for the van to be operational onsite 7 days a week, but for this, we still need your help. We need to raise funds to cover the running costs of the vehicle e.g. fuel and insurance, and to continue to buy much needed provisions for the women and their children.

To help support the continuing work of the Women’s Centre, please donate here to make a direct payment. https://www.gofundme.com/womenscentre

In the near future, additions will be made to our site to enable our supporters to make a small monthly donation, if they wish. This will really help with the stable running of the Women’s Centre, enabling us to focus on providing practical assistance on the ground.

Again a huge thank you to Donate 4 Refugees so much appreciated. Also a special thank you to Shelley who has been doing the
